What is Global Developmental Delay (GDD)?

This affliction affects 1-3% of the population.

What is Global Developmental Delay or GDD?

GDD is a severe developmental delay that happens to a child from birth up to 18 years of age.

If your child is not coping up “normally” in communication skills or fine motor functions, then that can fall under GDD.

I’m not going into the myriad causes of GDD because if you are reading this then chances you don’t care about the cause. Rather, you care more about helping your kid catch up.

Just a quick Google search and you can find some kids afflicted catch up and live a normal life.

As for my child, he is diagnosed as such because:

  • The child has poor social skills/ judgment;
  • The child has communication problems
  • The child has fine/gross motor difficulties
  • The child shows aggressive behavior as a coping skill

It’s an uphill battle. But we are going to do our best to help our kid.

We made this site because we want to help other parents as well. It can be lonely out there and our voice might be the only guiding light in the darkness.
